Throw it out? No Way!
Angliss Neighbourhood House has set up a new repair café in Footscray! On the second Saturday of every month, Footscray locals will be able to bring in their broken items, and hopefully have them fixed for free!

Do you have an old toaster that won’t toast?
A laptop you can’t get to work?
Some socks with holes? Throw them out? No way!
Bring them into our new repair cafe and our team of
friendly volunteer repairers will try to fix them!

Footscray Repair Cafe sessions are held on the 2nd Saturday of the month between 11am and 2pm.
*Last repairs accepted at 1.30pm

How does it work? How can I get something repaired?
You can make a booking by filling out this request form. You are welcome to pop in to a session without a booking, but you might need to wait a while if our team is already busy. If we don’t have a repairer on-site who can fix your item, we can arrange for you to come back another time. Where possible, visitors can also learn how to repair items yourselves, gaining valuable skills to extend the lifetime of your item!
Can I volunteer?
Yes please! We have an amazing team of volunteers already signed on but are always looking for more to share the load. If you have particular skills/interests and are keen to share them through this project, please fill out this form or give us a call on 03 9687 9908 or email [email protected] for more information. All of our volunteer repairers need to agree to follow our guidelines for working safely.

House Rules
It is important to understand what the repair cafe can and cannot do. We ask all people who bring in items for repair to sign a waiver, confirming that you agree to our House Rules.

Why a Repair Cafe?
The Repair Café model fits so well with ANH values around sustainability, skills-sharing, and community connection. We want this community resource to be accessed by everyone, but especially those who find access to affordable repairs particularly difficult. We want to play a role in minimising waste and are keen to work with others to improve environmentally sustainable practices. We love that repair cafes can reduce landfill by extending the life of our stuff! Just as importantly, we know that repair cafés bring real economic and social benefits to local residents. Each month, you can pop into our friendly sessions, get to know your neighbours and other locals, learn new skills, save money, and help build a culture of skill sharing and exchange!
